Established in 1989 Waliz Nuts has been producing the highest quality Australian macadamias out of the picturesque town of Newrybar in the Byron hinterland. The farm’s history goes back to the mid-1980s when the Hudson family bought a small acreage and spent their first summer planting the first 3000 trees.
Owners Paul and Liz have continued to build on the strong reputation of the family business, bringing their own passion and expertise as they raise their four young children on the farm ensuring the legacy of producing the highest quality macadamias continues.

First discovered in 1857 along Australia’s Queensland coast, macadamias were named in honour of Dr. John Macadam, a colleague of the Australian botanist who made the actual discovery. Australia is the leading producer of macadamia nuts (the only native Australian plant to be developed as a commercial food crop). “Macas” are also grown in large quantities in Hawaii, South Africa, Costa Rica and Guatemala where they thrive in the well-drained soil in temperatures that hover around 25 degrees.
