Bringing in a New Year with Welcomed Rain

Happy new year to all our growers. It’s been an interesting start to 2020 here on the farm. We have enjoyed a run of heavy rain which our orchard and many of our growers have welcomed. After last year’s excruciatingly long dry spell all growers were anxious about the season ahead. Some took to watering their trees, ourselves included, and braced for a possibly underwhelming season. However, it’s amazing what a few days straight of rain can do to lift your spirits replacing those feelings with optimism ahead of the harvest season. In Newrybar we experienced 160mm in a matter of hours. Some farmers enjoyed more at places such as Tregeagle and Myocum. We are still six weeks away from the season commencing but many of our growers have already reported nuts falling and positive signs with nut sets looking plump. We will be in contact with our growers next month with our 2020 price offer and contract. Garth and myself will be dropping in and visiting our growers over the next few weeks. So keep a lookout for our truck and say g'day. In the meantime, enjoy cutting the grass and maintaining your orchard.
